     My current design for my feature article utilizes  six  pictures total. I’m going to have  four  pictures that display different places to visit in Florida. Each picture will  have a  short text  bo x that gives a short description of the location, as well as why it's good for family travel.  The two images I'm going to utilize on the first page of my feature a rticle are going to be generic “Florida-themed”  images:  a sunset, the beach, a pretty sky. They might also be taken from the  locations I want to use for my four feature locations, but one of them might be.  The article itself that will go next to those two pictures will be about general information about Florida and fun (not location  specific ) activities to do here ;  go to the beach,  go on a picnic, etc.  One location I’m not going to use for one of my four feature locations is Sarasota because I feel it would be too “ea sy”...

     I’ve just started putting my ideas into InDesign  (a little late, I know)  and there were a few more setbacks that I didn’t expect. As  I’ve said before, I know my way around photoshop and am pretty good at using the specific features on it, because they're both Adobe  resources I assumed it would be the same thing. It was not. I  hadn't  done any research on InDesign because I thought I had it down  so now I  have to  take a few steps back and  explore how to use it. After my crash course on InDesign, I should be okay, I'm expecting to pick it up  pretty quickly , but I've learned from this experience to expect the unexpected.  The other issue I saw in the short amount of time that I was on  InDesign  was that there was a lack of font options. In my digital design classes that I’ve ta ken in the past I have done some hand lettering in photoshop and I might resort to using that skill. I see two opt...

  To be honest, I forgot about taking my cover photo over the break. There’s still time that I might be able to pose and photograph my niece and nephew a little later, but I already have the mi ndset that I might have to change my plan a little. I’ll look and see if I have any pictures of my niece and nephew that will work, or any pictures of my little cousins I could use. Changing this one picture shoul dn’t  affect  my magazine  as a whole, but  I’ll have to look and see what I have.  I’m hoping to keep the same theme of using a beach picture because I want my cover page to be “cliché”  Florida, with the beaches and sunsets. The one thing I can’t compromise is having children on the cover. This i s a magazine about family travel so I don’t want to just use a  scenery picture because there wouldn’t be anything to establish the difference between a normal travel magazine and a family travel magazine.  

     I have a plan to take my cover picture (of my niece and nephew) over the break while we’re at the beach. I  already have pictures I want to use for advertisements for locations in my feature article. I have them from 5 different locations and  I'm currently working on the organization and editing of them. My plan for my  cover picture is to have it be my niece and nephew on the beach, maybe with the sunset in the background.  I want to take a picture that isn’t too “ Christmassy ” (for lack of better wording )  but it might give off a winter aesthetic. I will also be with my younger cousi ns over break so there’s a chance I might incorporate them into the pictures if for some reason my niece and nephew aren't cooperating (I wouldn’t be surprised,  it's  hard to control babies).

       I’ve decided I want to have my feature article be based on “Floridian Family Favorites” . The idea I have pictured for it is to have an (approximately) 2 paragraph  article  about how Florida is a fun place to visit as a family and th en lead into 4 different locations with pictures of each and a short text about why that location is good for families with children. I haven’t  yet decided if I am doing  an interview and/or who I will be  interviewing.   At the moment  I’m experimenting with the idea of interviewing some “locals” for my general 2 paragraphs and asking things they like to do in Flori da. I might interview family members, church members, and coworkers so I get a broad range of answers. Though I  haven't  fully decided what my exact plan is for my interviews, I think I will  interview multiple people about their favorite things to do in Florida and only choose a few of the interviews to use.  ...
